Please scroll through the pictures below and take a "mini plant
tour" to see the process at Bluffton Precast Concrete. From the
quarry, to the mixer, to
the forms, and onto the trucks for
delivery to the jobsite, we get the job done!

Raw earth,
mined,
"Green" aggregates are dumped into the "pit".
|
|
Aggregate is
conveyed from the "pit" to the indoor bins. |

The bins
store the aggregate until ready to be dumped onto the
electronic scale. |
|
The
electronic scale/conveyor, controlled by the Marcotte
software, insures that all aggregate weights are within
the specified parameters. |

The central
function of the batch plant control room deals with all
aggregate, admixtures, cement powder, water, mix time,
mix design and the timely dispatch of the final mix
throughout the plant. |
|
Our computer
controlled batch plant software, by Marcotte, assures
consistent quality of our products.

Our Skako
Counter Current Mixer provides consistent mix to
mix reliability. |
|
The final mix is dispensed into portable
silos for distribution to specific areas as ordered by
the hourly associates. |

For
increased efficiency, silos are then lifted into place
with one of our 17 overhead cranes where the hourly
associate can control the dispensing of the mix into the
form with manually controlled butterfly valves. |
|
Steel forms
or "moulds" are what we use to build most of our
products.

Initial
Quality Control begins at form setup, and
continues through reinforcement, and fixture placement.
When QC is satisfied the form is closed and ready to
pour. |
|
After our QC
team goes through the post pour checklist, and the piece
passes,

The NPCA
certified plant stencil is applied. |
|
BPC invested
in our own stencil cutting plotter in 2007, allowing us
to provide your logo or brand name on any of our
products. |

We cast in a
variety of lifting and handling devices, based on
customer preference, product configuration and or
design.
|
|
Front end
loaders or fork lifts transfer product from plant to
storage yard. |
|
Our dispatcher does his best to assure timely delivery
to your jobsite, or storage yard. |

We use
redundant tracking methods, electronics and the old
fashion way on the wall in writing. |
|
Proper
loading of BPC trucks allows for efficient deliveries.

|
Our fleet of
trucks, trailers, and unloaders meet almost every
product delivery situation. |
|
Test
cylinders, taken several times a day are logged in the
computer and on the wall. Then they are stored on racks
to be crushed per QC requirements. |
|
Cylinders
are crushed in the PSI testing machine and documented in
the cylinder log. |
|
Record
keeping for Precast QC is a necessary, redundant, and
some times overwhelming daily part of complying with
national, state and local specifications. |

We say
Quality, Service, and Dependability and We MEAN IT!! |
